About Us

Carl Ford early years

From a very early age, Carl always had a very keen interest in Motor Cars and anything remotely Mechanical.

Having left secondary education and desperate to get out into the ‘real world’ Carl embarked upon an excellent 3 year apprenticeship with Hofmann’s of Henley, under the watchful eye of Graham Ashley-Carter. During his training he worked on both Pre-War and Post-War Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars. He found that his real interest and passion lay with the Pre-War variety, so that was the route that he followed.

Always eager for more facts and information, Carl was lucky enough to be able to continue his studies, attending many college night classes until the age of 22.

Having reached 23, Carl decided a new challenge would be beneficial. Carl and his former business partner set up a new company from scratch called the Priory Vintage Car Co.

Successfully run and managed by Carl, the business grew taking on more employees and the workshops were expanded to accommodate the growth in new customers.

In 2017, after 17 years as a partner of the Priory Vintage Car Company, Carl decided to embark on a new project of his own.

Carl J Ford

Carl J Ford  opened for business at the beginning of January 2018.

Operating on a slightly smaller scale than Carl’s previous business, it allows him to do what he enjoys the most, and that is the repair and restoration of Rolls-Royce’s and Derby Bentley’s.

Set in a comfortable modern unit, with wonderful facilities, he couldn’t be happier.

Having worked on these motor cars for the last 26 years he has built up a very good reputation with Rolls-Royce and Bentley owners as well as within the trade.
